Jodie
Jodie is not a nice girl nor is she a mean girl. She tells it how it is, blunt and truthful, But the truth hurts and not everyone wants to hear it. That aspect has never allowed her a lot of friends. She is a ballet dancer and despite what people say, she didn't become a ballet dancer by having a lot of friends. It's a one people sport and she has to rely on herself a lot. She lives at a school where she studied her dancing and also takes normal classes. Jodie has lived there since she was four years old per her mother's wishes.
Her mother is overbearing and pushes Jodie to dance harder. Ballet is all that Jodie knows as she was never allowed to do anything else when she was growing up. Jodie is a great dancer. All her teachers tell her that she could be accepted into a company. Her relationship with her mother is complex and difficult at best. her mother wants her to be primadonna ballet dancer at school and Jodie is working her butt off to make this happen for her mother. Although Jodie and her mother have a difficult relationship sometimes, Jodie knows how much it means to her mother that Jodie become a ballerina. Jodie has conflicting emotions about dancing, sometimes she loves it as much as her mother wants her to and then other times she just wants to be a normal teenager.
She is 5'7'', thin and graceful as a ballerina should be. Willowy with long arms and legs. Probably maximum 100lbs and weight is a big factor with dancing. She has long brown hair and wide deep set brown eyes and straight even white teeth.
Jodie has conflicting emotions. She wants to be normal and not have to watch what she eats. Over time Jodie has become used to the regiments of ballet and has developed bulimia. She only keeps a small portion of food a day to give her some energy to dance but she never discusses her pain or health to anyone. It's just not done. Jodie wants to hang out and make friends as she doesn't have any who aren't dancers. But is is hard to do both. Be normal and be a teenage ballerina. Jodie wants to make her mother happy and she wants to be happy herself but she can't have it both ways.
As the scene starts Jodie is meeting with some new friends that she met at a club. She had sneaked away for some time to hang out with friends and her mother has no idea. Jodie and her friends are going to a movie and some dinner which is pizza and fries. Jodie doesn't eat for a while but eventually gives in to one slice. The evening winds down to a male friend and Jodie walking back to school eating cotton candy. They leave each other and Jodie immediately knows that now she is back at school and on different ground that she has done bad things. Eating junk food. What is she going to do? She has to get rid of it and does but is Jodie making herself sick and doesn't even know it yet?
Will
Will has always wanted to play football. He used all his school vacations going to football camps and was born and bred to play. His mama told him that his daddy used to play ball in high school. He loves every minute of it.Will was left with his mother when he was only six years old. His father left with no warning to either and neither Will nor his mother make it a point to talk about him much. Will and his mom have a deep bond and a loving relationship. She works two jobs to give him the things he needs and Will is greatly appreciative and doesn't cause his mom any problems. He hopes that one day a football scout will see him play and he will get the scholarship that he deserves. He prays that one day he will be able to repay his mother for all the things she has sacrificed for him. he loves his mother and would be lost without her. Will has a good football body with a height of 6'3'', big boned body and wide shoulders. A hefty frame and wide shoulders, brown hair and brown eyes. 320 lbs. Will has a part time job and is an active member in his life. he doesn't let his life pass him by but rather spends every minute trying to repay his mother for the things she has given him. He doesn't go out and party all night but studies and devotes his time to practicing football because he knows that is the only thing going to get him into college.Lately Will has felt the pressure come down on him, Everything is riding on how well he plays football. Not only playing football but with the massive amounts of schoolwork that is laid on a junior, he doesn't have a lot of downtime. Will is starting to get stressed and that could lead to carelessness. He feels he might need something to help him play his best and win that scholarship. So the scene starts with Will at football practice. He and some other players are in the locker room and one of the guys is talking about steroids. He said he doesn't take them but if any of the guys want some he knows where to find them. Will stands conflicted. he could be offered a chance to set everything on a straight path if he takes the drugs but he knows his mama would kill him if she ever found out. Not to mention if the scouts found out he would be eliminated from their options. So what is he to do, take the drugs and win the scholarship at risk of losing everything or go drug free and maybe not have the power or impression to leave behind with the scouts.

320 lbs!!! Jeez, that's industrial refrigerator size! Are you sure Will is that big? 220 is a big well set-up man, but not a monster....
Anyway, you've got the mother in here, I see--but she could have a section of her own and eventually scenes where she does her stage momma thing.
I really like the tone of this, stuff like: "despite what people say, she didn't become a ballet dancer by having a lot of friends. It's a one people sport and she has to rely on herself a lot."
Does this belong in character description: "As the scene starts Jodie is meeting with some new friends that she met at a club. She has to get rid of it and does but is Jodie making herself sick and doesn't even know it yet?" It's good stuff and sets the basic conflict and problem but reads like outline material to me. Ditto where in 'Will' it reads, 'So the scene starts...'
Well I think there is room for conflict, like Jodie became a dancer by relying on herself to please her mom but the more she has a chance to experience other things, ie freinds, she sees what she is missing. Isn't there room for change and conflict within the character, herself?
